THE PERFECT SPACE?

We moved from our house in a Peterborough village nearly 13 years ago. The aim was to downsize, get rid of the mortgage and put a chunk of money in the bank. Crucial for us was that it had to be ‘age-proof’. A place where we never actually needed to get into a car as everything we would need would be nearby.

The house we chose was, and still is, perfect for us.

Within a 10 minute walk, I can be at the railway station (London is less than 2 hours away), hospital, GP, pharmacy, a selection of supermarkets, the twice weekly market, shops, opticians, theatre/cinema, fire station, gym, leisure centre and swimming pool. a museum with public gardens, aviary and tennis courts etc etc. I can also take a river taxi to the shopping mall.

The house has 5 bedrooms, a double garage, and two reception rooms. My husband has an office above the garage, so we never get in each other’s way despite both of us working mainly from home. The kitchen is enormous and the garden is small but pretty.

I am telling you this because this is still our perfect home. Yes ,ideally I would love a penthouse at the Barbican in London but then there the cost, the noise, a lack of open space and too many people!
